How Much Does Car Rental in Tunisia Cost? What's Included in the Hertz Price

Comparing rental prices only makes sense if you know what they include. Here's a point-by-point look at what's included in the price of a Hertz rental in Tunisia, and what may be added on top.

What's included in the price shown

  • Taxes: the price includes 19% VAT and airport taxes.
  • Insurance: every car is covered by comprehensive insurance — third-party liability, accidental damage with an excess of 4% of the vehicle's new value, and driver cover.
  • Assistance anywhere in Tunisia.

The insurance does not cover broken glass, tire damage or theft, which remain the customer's responsibility.

What makes the price vary

  • Duration: rates decrease over time, so the daily price goes down the longer you rent.
  • Season: rates vary depending on the time of year.
  • Category: a city car costs less than an SUV or a sedan, and an automatic costs a little more than the same car with a manual transmission.
  • Offers: discounts reserved for online bookings may apply; they're flagged on each car.

The “from” price of each car is displayed on your branch's page: Tunis-Carthage airport, Tunis (Charguia), Djerba airport, Monastir airport, Sfax airport or Sfax city center.

What may be added, payable on site

  • Extras: additional driver, baby seat, child seat or booster seat, GPS, electronic toll tag.
  • Pick-up or drop-off of the vehicle outside the branch's opening hours: 70 TND incl. VAT.
  • Drop-off at a different branch (one-way rental): inter-branch fees may apply.
  • Fuel, depending on the level at return, and delivery or collection of the vehicle at your hotel.
  • A flight delayed by more than 2 hours: 5 TND incl. VAT per hour beyond the grace period.

The deposit

A deposit is required at pick-up, by credit card only, in the main driver's name: cash and checks are not accepted. The account must have a limit of at least 1,000 euros, or more depending on the car category.

Two tips for paying the right price

  • Return the car within the same time slot as your pick-up: a later return may mean you're charged an extra day.
  • Before paying, read the cancellation terms: your refund depends on how far ahead of the rental you cancel (see our terms and conditions).
